Ecker - Menagerie 100109

It's great to get back into the Menagerie, one of my favourite venues in Belfast. It has an unofficial 'come as you are' policy so you can arrive in your paint-splattered dungarees or a Prada suit and no-one will give a hoot.

The Ecker team asked me to do videos for their Saturday night knees up. People danced, pints were drunk, and bass made everything wobble. Thanks to Mr H for letting me borrow his video mixer for the show to keep it all live as my laptop powerpack replacement for the replacement still hasn't arrived!

Simon the soundman took a dive due to fatigue, but not before getting the system sorted - what a pro. I hope he's feeling better now.

How does he find the time and energy to make so much music and release it for free on such a regular basis, whilst also holding down a full-time job and attending to his duty as a member of (currently under intense re-imagining) Dry County? The answer? Maybe he's not human. Whatever the case, let's be thankful that he uses his energy in such a positive manner.
