Vinyl to Sample - Dumbo

Here's a crackly version of a classic story.
I can imagine that the people who own the copyright to this might be very annoyed at me sharing my worn out version (as if anyone who really wanted to buy one of their products would settle for my dodgy stereo rip) so here's a link to a place you can purchase a high fidelity copy.

In other news I was reading about a man who was being taken to court for sharing files using some P2P software. After clicking a few links, I stumbled across this. So many different points of view on the issue of sharing and rights protection. , Which is legally acceptable, which is dangerous and which highlights the need to look towards the future?

I heard on the radio recently that the use of P2P has went down and that usage of legal streaming sites (EG: spotify + last.fm) has increased. I guess / hope that all those industry experts who didn't include the chance of this happening in their predictions of the future of the music industry are calming down (let's hope this pattern continues as I can't support anyone who says, "sharing is stealing") and dealing with the fact that they like the rest of us do not know what the future holds.

Vinyl to Sample - Instruments of the Orchestra

This is a fun piece of history. Well-recorded audio with fantastic graphics of the period.
In my opinion it's a real joy to look at and to listen to.
I apologise for not taking the time to crop all the images scanned from the multi-page inlay, which is worth the download alone.

If you are interested in remixing; finding this is the sort of material could make your day after a few hours digging through crates of dusty vinyl (especially if you've been through many of the local charity shops I frequent which seem to have more Cliff Richard, Harry Secombe, and Charlie Pride than any wise record shop would ever stock.)

Lied Und Land - Volkslieder Aud Deutschland is a collection of German folk songs ripped from flexi disc.

This little disc was warped when I got it, but I think the distortion adds an interesting wonky dimension to the sound.

One person has noted that listening to this kind of music increases the desire for cold beer. Enjoy the crackly goodness.

I've decided to share some old chunks of vinyl. I've put up links to ZIPs containing the mp3 files and scans. Hopefully you'll get a few minutes enjoyment listening to this material. If you feel inspired and use it in a remix, let me hear it.

I imagine the inclusion of Rolf Harris on track one should make this worth the download for most people. However if you've got a soft spot for old fashioned organs you might give the tracks from side 2 a play too. Nothing like playing Christmas carols in the office to ensure your co-workers get about their jobs with smiles on their faces, eh?

A few things to bear in mind: These are old discs from charity shops, not mint condition collectors items, you're getting them for free, and this is the dodgy stereo blog, so don't complain about sound quality.

When I was in brussels I found several 7" records which stood out from the rest. Sound effects records which I imagine were used to add atmosphere to silent movies (The cini-projector on the front cover was a hint).

I thought I'd convert them to share with my readers (both of you).
